Charges for Editing per page per reading (as of 1/1/2023)
Single spaced: $30/page
1.5 line spacing: $22.5/page
Double spaced: $15/page
Application of journal template: $50
Certificate of English Editing is available at no charge.
I do not differentiate between letter and A4 page sizes. Page count comes from the original file sent, not the edited version. Partial pages are combined for the page count. Title pages are generally not included in the page count unless the abstract is on the same page. I do look at the title, however.
Second readings are generally discounted up to 50%, depending upon how many changes were made after the first reading edits were completed.
A Certificate of English Editing is available upon request. There is no charge for the certificate.
Turnover time for the initial editing is usually 24-48 hrs or less, but may vary. However, any variation will be discussed with you beforehand. Editing services include discussion time as needed.
I can also check over your Response to Reviewers, making sure that any quoted material is the edited version not the pre-edited text. The same page rates apply, but the pages are counted after temporarily removing reviewer response text.
GETTING THE MOST OUT OF YOUR EDITING EXPERIENCE
Please send everything that you are preparing for the journal, including supplemental material, figures and references. I edit all pages sent that include text, except for references or material that you indicate is to be excluded. While I do look at figures and may make comments, I do not generally charge for those pages. I consider that part of editing the figure legends. I use the references and supplemental material as sources for editing the main text. They are invaluable in helping me make well-crafted edits.
If you know the journal to which you will be submitting, please indicate that. As part of the editing process, I make sure that the journal formatting instructions are met, including word or character limits, header style and so on. If a journal has a template, I strongly urge you to use it as soon as you begin writing. I can apply a template afterward, but it can be tricky, which is why I charge to do it.
All editing will be done in Word with tracking on. Fonts used should be standard (Arial, Times, Symbol). Other fonts may be usable, but I cannot guarantee stability during sending. It does not matter whether you are Mac based or PC (I use both). I make extensive use of comments to clarify both what I have done and to ask questions that need to be answered before sending the document out.
I edit at multiple levels simultaneously: English grammar, scientific content, and overall logical structure. If you wish me to limit my edits, please let me know your preferences.
OTHER SERVICES
Galley Proof (entire): $150
​Graphic Services: using Illustrator or Photoshop. The final figure will be in whatever format is needed for publication (jpeg, tiff, png, etc). I can change between any of these formats as needed. These are charged by the hour.
​Slides in PowerPoint: with or without animation. These are charged by the hour.
I can work by the hour. Please contact me for hourly rates.
Payment Methods: I accept credit cards via PayPal. Domestic checks are also acceptable. No international checks, please.
